Join Frazer Leal for a special nature photography adventure in a very small group on Lady Elliot Island, located on the Great Barrier Reef. With just 4–5 participants, this workshop offers a personalised and immersive experience in one of Australia’s most unique locations.

Photograph an incredible variety of subjects including nesting seabirds, sea turtles, reef life, seascapes and creative macro scenes. Based at a comfortable island resort, you’ll have direct access to stunning locations just steps from your accommodation.

DAY 1 - HERVEY BAY TO LADY ELLIOT

November 21

We meet at Hervey Bay Airport to board our flight mid morning. We fly across to beautiful Lady Elliot Island from Hervey Bay, have your camera and general purpose lens ready as we have made some lovely images on past visits with vibrant blue water and unique white sand patterns. Your flights, Hervey Bay - Lady Elliot - Hervey Bay, are included in your package. On landing, the group is offered a base orientation and we are shown to our rooms. We book fantastic rooms that offer shoots from your steps! We include a workshop to cover basics and beyond this afternoon, plus a short island walk to shoot sunset and birds. As we are on the Great Barrier Reef, anyone from novice to advanced swimmers can have fun snorkeling just metres from their doorstep. Tips and techniques will be offered by your tutors. We include workshops during the week, to cover processing, creativity, landscapes, nature and people. Lunch is included. Dinner tonight at the resort is part of your package. A great chance to talk about photography. (L,D)

DAYs 2/3/4 – LADY ELLIOT

November 22/23/24

Three more days of field workshops and hours of shooting opportunities. Even night shoots are possible for turtles and hatchlings. You will need to be careful that you do not ‘walk on’ some little critters. Thousands of birds plus amazing reef shoots at low tide are followed by the chance to shoot turtles at night. Look out for orange hermit crabs, cute baby birds and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Our last night includes a group audio visual and chance to look at everyone’s favourite images. You will be amazed at the diversity of imagery! (B,L,D)
