This photo adventure is led by renowned nature and adventure photographer Darran Leal and his wife, Julia. Darran’s knowledge and experience will enhance your journey, providing valuable insights and guidance to help you capture stunning images. Is it all about bears? Not exclusively, but the bear encounters are legendary, with past participants raving about their experiences for years. You can expect iconic wilderness scenes of Alaska, along with unique bear encounters that include cubs, salmon fishing, and interactions with bears, as well as breathtaking views of nature ranging from forests to bald eagles. The glacier and blue ice experiences on flat waters are world-class! Every day is different, and both Darran and our local expert guides will work hard to provide you with the very best of Alaska. DAY 1 - Juneau

July 20

Kick off your Alaskan adventure in the vibrant capital of Alaska - Juneau. Take a stroll through this charming community nestled by the sea as you prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey. Meet at 5 PM today, join us for a enriching workshop led by your tour leader, Darran. This will be followed by a delightful group dinner.

DAY 2 - Juneau - Helicopter adventure...

July 21

Today we offer a fun once in a lifetime experience via helicopter. The half day helicopter flight is only one part of this legendary experience that includes flying over the Juneau Icefield for fantastic aerial images, to landing on Mendenhall Glacier. The blue ice, towering rugged mountains and the chopper perspective are incredible.

We land and walk on the glacier (which is easy) and move to the dog camp and then experience a kennel tour, plus an exciting dogsled ride. It offers unique imagery, loads of fun and the dogs are just too cute! Time this afternoon to explore a targeted location with your guide.

DAY 3 - Juneau to Wrangell

July 22

After a morning walk, we will catch our flight south to Wrangell. (This flight is included in the tour package.) Once we are settled in Wrangell, Darran offers a walk to explore the foreshore and town. Wrangell is a lovely small town and well worth a visit to experience new Alaskan adventures. We will also include a workshop today, schedule permitting.
